The group had finally found the last two Chaos Emeralds, but their luck is turned to the worst. The two remaining emeralds are now trapped in a Dark Patch, making it difficult to remove.
"What is a Dark Patch?" Lightning asked.
"We're not 100 percent sure," Tails said. "All we know is that it's a large blob of darkness that leads the Heartless to a world. When it's erased, the Heartless stop coming, and the world is left alone."
